Sometimes I think that my life isn't going very well because I am not telling myself the story I want to hear about it. I think that it isn't going well, when it is going fine according to the grace of God. But, the culture we live in encourages schemes and dreams. Each day is not a precious treasure to be taken for its own merit. I think that I am not accomplishing, wasting time, falling behind, getting old, etc.
When the truth is, each day is a precious treasure, never to be repeated. I should be telling myself about the treasure of the day. I should be listening to the Gospel and figuring out where I fit in on the path to Salvation and how I can lead others on the path. All the rest is vanity. All the rest is waste and exhaustion.
The present that the Lord has made for me is this day. I will try to live in the present. And to be thankful for it.
