Jennifer Fulwiler hosts this bloggy carnival. Go visit around.
1. Last Saturday was the Magnificat women's prayer breakfast. The speaker was a concentration camp survivor--she was East German and was put in a camp by the Russians immediately following WWII while still a child. Her experiences reminded me a lot of the book I just finished--Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys. I was really struck by her joy and her forgiveness. This breakfast was the poorest attendance of any I have been to, summer, maybe?
2. Monday was number one and only son's birthday. Moose was 33. We went to Longhorn Steak House and gave him a card and money. I sang off key and offered to look at his baby pictures with him. He declined.
3. I made some of the arrangements for our upcoming vacation. I booked a Capitol tour. My sister-in-law promised me the run of their house. Our son offered to watch the cat. So, when the time is right we are ready to go.
4. I find that in the summer when I have extra time I am very poor about getting these QTs done. During the school year when I have less time I am more disciplined. My mind goes too many directions when I don't have the stress to keep me on task. I am looking at the empty numbers below this and wondering how in the world I will ever fill them up with words.
5. I am doing okay with the foot/ankle brace. I am supposed to wear it all day and I haven't been. I put off putting it on. So far I haven't gotten myself into trouble as in foot/ankle getting all out of whack and hurting really bad again. I like to wear sandals to Mass in the morning and I can't wear this brace without socks. Then I run errands without the brace on the way home from church and by that time the day is half over. I have ended up putting it on for the evening walk though.
6. I called and made appointments with the eye doctor and the foot doctor. I sprayed the bushes for the bag worms that are feasting on them. I worked on the watermelon quilt. I went to Mass a few times during the week. It is just busy work. I needed to talk to people and do things that were fun. I haven't figured out how to do that yet with my summers.
7. Because these are the longest days of the year, I have noticed the sunsets more.
We have had more clouds and more rain than usual. After the rains sometimes the drainage pond fills up and becomes a lake. A duck has taken to flying in to visit when it does.

So I will conclude the takes with my ducky friend.
