Once upon a time I used to put long posts that I thought no one would really want to read on Saturday. I began to label them "Boring Posts for Saturday." Sometimes they were funny. Sometimes they were rants. Sometimes they were long essays. Boring posts for Saturday was my way of taking the pressure off of trying to produce the stellar and interesting posts I have the rest of the time. (She says with tongue in cheek.) Still it seemed to me that few bloggers blogged on Saturday and my stats showed even fewer than the 10 or so readers that I typically have on the weekends. So, labeling something "Boring Posts" didn't seem like a bad idea.
Then Dawn made me buttons and egged me on and a few bloggers with now defunct blogs joined me in Boring Posts and it was briefly fun. Until it wasn't. I started to put pressure on myself to be funny. Have you ever tried that? It doesn't work. And my life went through a particularly unfunny time. I haven't really even now got my funny bone back.
The Boring Posts went the way of the dinosaur or those bloggers who have abandoned their blogs. It became history. I don't miss it. Some of the posts I shared this week might have been labeled "Boring Posts" for whatever day they were. In fact the whole blog is that way in some respects. I haven't learned to be a better writer through blogging. I have learned to be a faster writer. But, quality has not improved, in my opinion. If it wasn't my life, I am not sure I would read me, actually.
But you get what you pay for, so they say and I blog everyday, for nothing. If that isn't a boring post, I am not sure what is.
