I like to make baby quilts. If you have been following along getting to know me, I thought I would show you some. I am a self taught, not very expert quilter, but with each one I did, I learn something.
I started making quilts when I was a La Leche League Leader and military wife. I had dear friends having babies and not money to purchase a gift that could express my joy. As a baby, I was the oldest long awaited baby of my parents and I received several quilts. I wish that each and every baby could be welcomed with a hand made quilt. I can't quite deliver on that, but I enjoy making them.
At one point I had no babies to make quilts for, and I complained to God about that. He told me, you make the quilts, I will send the babies. So, most often I begin quilts and I have no idea who they are for. Then, around the time I finish, a baby comes who fits with that quilt.

I called this one rubber ducky.
This was one of the first ones I made for a specific baby.
I like the colors in this one. My sister thought they were awful.
I didn't really like either of these pink quilts very much.
I gave this one away for a raffle when I finished it, mainly because I didn't care for it at all. I hated that I put the dark square in the middle instead of the medium.
I loved this one and gave it to the long awaited baby of a teacher friend.
I am quilting this one right now. I call it the watermelon quilt and it has been going slow.

God has been faithful to send the babies. If I make quilts for all the babies I want to this year, I will be making several more. I think that I may stick to squares. The triangles like the watermelon quilt are much harder for me.
So that is quilting. It is my relaxation.
