My parish priest says that the quote "All creation bears the footprints of God" is attributed to St Bonaventure. I didn't find that exact thing when I looked it up, but close. I will take his word for it. Regardless of the source, think about it. Everything I see bears the footprints of God. God is there.
When I look at the mountains or the ocean or a beautiful lake, it is easy to think of this quote and see the reality of it. I suppose that is one reason that I long to travel to the mountains or the ocean or to a beautiful lake. I would like to see those God footprints.
But, if all creation bears God's footprints then I don't need to travel. The footprints of God are all around me. God is here. Training my eye to see and my ear to hear is the trick. God is here.
