Stuff is going on around here. I probably won't have time to link this post to the carnival.
1. So, Saturday, because my life did not contain enough excitement I stabbed myself in the palm while trying to open one of those plastic packages. It was deep and it bled. But it was 5:30 and I knew that the emergency room would not be serving dinner, but would probably make me wait 8 hours for a non-life threatening emergency. So, with pressure on it, I got the bleeding stopped. We went out to dinner to avoid dishes. I got bandage material from the drug store and toughed it out. I realized sometime Sunday that I needed a tetanus booster because I get those on years that end with 3 and this is one of those. Monday I called the doctor and went in for a tetanus booster.
2. With all the blood on my hands from seeping wounds I haven't been quilting. I didn't want to end up like Lady Macbeth--Out d--- spot. I am getting tired of quilting anyway. I want to make another doll.
3. Since I have been doing a lot of "where I went on my summer vacation" on the blog, I have noticed a big drop in readership. I still would like to put in the pictures and tell about the places I went for my family and for my own record as I research this book I am writing with my sister. But, I have also been keeping a little paper and ink prayer and meditation journal. I am thinking of doing two posts on some days so that the people who come looking for hope echoes won't be in Kansas anymore.
4. That said, I really want to go back to Kansas. I found something startling just today. My great-grandpa lived in Achinson, KS, not really Caldwell, KS at the beginning of his married life. He must have been married at Achinson. That is what the pension claims say, but the family has always refuted that. I re-read some things today which proves that he was living at Achinson. He worked for the Kickapoo Agency. Anyway, this isn't interesting to anybody but my sister and I, but it changes the start of the book we are writing if we try to stay true to the facts. Soooooooooooooooo, I want to go to Achinson, KS. Now. But I will have to plan it with my sister.
5. I spray painted Our Lady of the Snows snow white on Saturday before the stabbing. She really stands out in pure white.
6. Summer vacation is halfway over and I am already tired of it. Cleaning the house is just not that interesting and I am lonely and unmotivated. It makes me think that retiring would not be a good idea for me. I am a better worker than a housewife.
7. It makes me worry that I live in a city visited by Erin Brokovich and her team. We have burning toxic landfill beside a nuclear waste landfill from WWII days. We would like for the federal government to remove that waste and take it to somebody else's backyard. Any takers?
