Seven Quickly Taken Thoughts

1. I got back from Oklahoma and Kansas last Friday night.  Sister and I are writing a book or a series of juvenile historical fiction based loosely on our family history.  It will no doubt take us a long time to complete this project.  So, that is enough about that.  I was really tired because we ran and ran and ran, and by that I mean, I drove all over the place.

We really liked Wichita, Kansas.  It has a very neat Old Cowtown Museum. I will post about all that at some future time (like next week).

2. While I was away, my brace came in.  This is the ankle fix for my tendon problem.  If I am never in the pain that I was in again, it will be worth it.
This would be the position if I had fallen on the floor and couldn't get up.

3. Saturday, hubby and I went to the Potbelly Sandwich Shop for lunch.  Lunch was good, but I have to say, if ordering is so confusing that people have to keep guiding one through, perhaps that is not the best business plan.  It was confusing.

4.  Monday during a weather event in which we had lightning and rain and rain and more rain, the smoke alarm started intermittent beeping.  I tried to take it down, but I couldn't.  Hubby came home and took it down and it still beeped.  I don't mean the unit in our hands, I mean from the ceiling.  Confused we were.  Finally, after an exhaustive Internet search and trying various things, including cutting electricity to the alarms with no end to the beeping, it occurred to me to look around.  The carbon monoxide alarm was the source of the beeping. It wasn't near the ceiling, but in the small hallway at the top of the stairs, we thought it was the smoke detector.

5. Wednesday, I went to the first Mass with our new senior assistant pastor. Then I went out for lunch with the middle school librarians.  We talked books and things.  I like these people. We agreed that three hours wasn't enough time, we have to meet again this summer.

6. Thursday, I went to Mass and then I baked cookies for my hubby and shopped.  I took the car in for an oil change--all that driving in Oklahoma.  And for the first time in a long time, I mowed with the brace on. I need to build up my stamina again from all the sitting around I have been doing.

7. As I was waiting for the car in the dealership on Thursday I had a creepy thing happen.  A lady came up to me from behind and whispered in my ear that she liked the watermelon quilt I was working on.  She is very, very lucky I didn't punch or slap her.  I was so surprised I screamed.  Seriously, lady, personal space and all of that.
