Seven Quick Takes

Jennifer Fulwiler hosts this carnival.  Go around and visit the rest.

This is the driving vacation edition.

1. Remember to look at and pack the map.  Plan for interesting stops and lunch breaks whenever possible ahead of time.  The navigation app doesn't tell you where the interesting markers might be.  You have to plan that sort of thing in advance or you miss it.

2. Take pictures!  Often I take more pictures at the beginning than as the trip wears on.  I forget that documenting is part of the fun.  And gives me a lot to blog about.

3. Pack some non messy snacks for the car.  Driving gets boring and an apple and a water bottle create a little diversion.

4. Get some recorded books or talks to listen to.  Radio gets out of reach and annoying, but not as annoying as silence can be. If you are a music fan, then that.  I can listen to approximately 30 minutes of music before I. am. done.

5. Don't forget sunglasses, sunscreen and a beach towel, even if you aren't going to the beach.  Summer is summer no matter where you are.

6. Pack a first aid kit.  Pack bandages, pain killer, a washcloth or wipes, and some sort of disinfectant. Plastic bags to collect the trash comes in handy.

7. Take it easy and have fun.  Relax.  The journey is what it is all about. Getting there should be at least half the fun.
