The Fitbit

I got a Fitbit a few weeks back.  My brother got one for Christmas and he recommended it.  I was on the fence about getting one.  I had worn a pedometer for years and so I had a idea of how much I walked every day.  In the past couple of years the answer was not much.  I have a bad Achilles tendon. I have an opposite bad knee.  My hip hurts since the surgery if I walk very much.  I didn't seem like a likely candidate to excel at Fitbit which is based on encouragement to walk at least 10,000 steps a day.

But, I knew that I was getting weak and old and not having much energy.  That wasn't going to correct itself.  So I got a Fitbit.  I got the blue one, but now I wish I had gotten the black.  Since I have been wearing the Fitbit I have made the 10,000 steps every day accept when I had a touch of flu for  a couple of days.  Somehow the party on my arm motivates me to pour it on and get the steps in.  It isn't easy.  I can't think of one day that it has been easy.  But, possible.  Yes, it is possible.

At first my knee and heel were really sore.  I wondered if I needed to lower the goal.  As I debated that and kept going, I found myself getting stronger and stronger.  I am not where I want to be yet, but I can feel a change.  I like the Fitbit.
