How many of you post on Youtube? Raise your hands, don't be shy now. Post on Youtube, anyone? Probably lots of you do because you aren't going to be 60 this year. But I didn't until last Friday have anything posted on Youtube. And now I do and my life is complete. (Not really.)
But, seriously, I have always thought of myself as a modern woman even though I can remember when John Kennedy was shot (I was in 5th grade) and I remember sitting with my dad and uncle one summer night looking at the moon and wondering whether man would ever walk on it, or live on it one day. Mid-century modern was my childhood.
I remember a math course at my university where we got to see the computer that the university owned--it took up a whole building. I wrote punch cards to play 21 with it in that class. I was so proud. Then jumping forward my hubby had a Commodore 64 (early computer) and word processing seemed like a dream come true. (Maybe that was after the 64). I have played Tetrus and written my Master's thesis on computers. We were part of AOL for a while and my computer told me--You've got mail.
I have had email addresses for a long time. I started this blog some years ago and learned to load photos and link and do all the bloggity things I wanted to do. But, Youtube was almost the death of me. I had to load 5 videos to Youtube by April 8th to be part of the group who were flipping their classrooms at my school. I had to record myself teaching various things, which I did. But the format of the video was wrong. Then I tried to use my cell and for reasons that would wear me out to explain, but I do understand, it just didn't work.
Finally, I got the principal to give me back my library's camera and it worked. I hate listening to my voice and my speech issues--I didn't know I had them. I loaded those babies to Youtube. And they won't be seen on this blog. But, they are useful for teaching to kids who need to know how to use databases and my catalog online and other useful things. And now I have joined the ranks of the overexposed universe who are out there on the World Wide Web in every way possible.
