St Patrick's Day

I am probably as much Welsh as Irish, just a tad.  But these springtime holidays--St. David's Day, March 1, celebrated by the Welsh and St. Patrick's Day, March 17, celebrated by the Irish are some of my favorites.  They usually happen during Lent.  They are spring-y days.  Wearing a daffodil is the tradition for St. David's Day having something to do with Welsh independence and wearing green for St. Patrick.  What is not to love about celebrating Saints days and springtime and wearing green things.  Often around here we have daffodils to wear by St. David's Day, but this year, it may be Easter before we wear the spring flowers.  It will make them all the more beautiful that we had to wait for them.

But, this weekend I saw the first crocus of spring! (But the photos are from last year because I was having technical difficulties on Sunday evening.)



Happy St. Patty's Day! (And I am hopeful that many other blogs will repeat the story of St. Patrick and the snakes and the shamrocks and all of that because there are many worthy stories about dear old St. Patrick.)
