Jennifer Fulwiler hosts this carnival of the blogs. Go visit the better ones.
1. We ended up not going to Quincy for my family Christmas last weekend. The weather was threatening ice and snow, but largely missed us. My sister didn't want to drive up from Columbia alone. My mom was okay with the postponement and the restaurants will be less busy this Sunday.
2. So we cleaned house for several days in anticipation of meeting our son's girlfriend. We had them over for dinner on Christmas Eve. She was nice and I liked her a lot. I will call her Matty on the blog and I call my son Moose, so they are Moose and Matty.
3. Before the Christmas Eve merriment, came our anniversary on Monday. We went to Saving Mr. Banks and Outback. Both were enjoyable. If anyone suggests getting married right before Christmas, turn them down. The anniversary often gets rolled into Christmas. And it is a terrible time of year to get flowers unless you like poinsettias.
4. Son came over solo on Christmas after church. We opened gifts and ate turkey soup. It was very nice. I reflected how I have longed for him to find somebody special and to include more people in our family circle. Now that it has happened, I treasure that precious time with him. He left to be with her family in the afternoon. He will not being going with us to Quincy on Sunday.
5. Is it just me? Life seems to be careening around the corner toward 2014 and I am not sure where this year has gone. It is leaving me in the dust. And this is my 6th anniversary of the blog. I started this after months of agonizing and investigating. I decided that if the blog authors I followed were not going to write or show me pictures over the Christmas holidays, that I would entertain myself. I have largely been a daily blog. I try to post something every day. What I lack in quality, I make up for in quantity.
6. I have had really bad foot problems this week. It is so discouraging when every footstep is extremely painful. Another trip to the foot doctor is in order. I couldn't get an appointment until January 17th. I hope my foot doesn't fall off before then, or maybe I do.
7. At my last spiritual direction for the year, I gave my director a quilt I made for her anticipated 2nd grandchild. The baby is due in February, but I just felt as though it might be early so I wanted to get it on the way. I really liked how this quilt turned out. Some quilts I am just tired of by the time I am finished and I am not sure whether I like them or not. But, this one I liked. The patterned fabric is blueberries.
