Jennifer Fulwiler hosts this carnival each week. Go around and visit the rest.
1. Last week I drove up to Quincy and took Mom to the doctor and shopped for and cooked Thanksgiving dinner at my brother's house. My brother's wife works and lives in Chicago and by next year I expect that my brother will be up there too. I had a sinus problem going on, but except for that and not sleeping, it was fun. I didn't take any short cuts with the turkey or the stuffing and I made real mashed potatoes, but I bought pies and rolls and opened cans for green beans. I made the sweet potato casserole and it was hardly touched, so I am thinking that next year it will not be fixed.
Mom is starting to look her age a bit. Although I am not sure what 92 looks like. Still, I made her make a dessert and bring her cole slaw. No slackers at my Thanksgiving dinners.
My sister brought the salad. She turned 55 this week. I still think of her as my baby sister.
2. Saturday hubby and I put out the outside Christmas lights. It got up to almost 60 degrees, so it seemed like the best time to do it. But, the end of the sinus problem left over from the snotty little cold I had left me feeling terrible by the evening. And some of the lights were burned out and we decided to rearrange others later in the week. They just don't make lights like they used to....
3. I spent this week in preparation for Advent By Candlelight at my parish, which is this evening. I blogged about my preparations this week since it seems that most of my blog visitors are interested in that subject.
I hope I remembered to make a list and check it twice. I need to take photos so that I have something to blog about next week.
4. I never got around to mentioning the end of the book fair. I sold $2800 worth of stuff. It was the most successful fair I have had in years. They came to pick it up the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
5. My very favorite go-to recipe this time of year is chicken breast (or cut up chicken) cooked in Italian salad dressing. The oil and the vinegar marinates the chicken and gives it flavor. I try not to do it too much, but it is my favorite kind of cooking. Easy. And add it to a bottle of spaghetti sauce later in the week and boil some spaghetti and a whole different meal is born.
6. It would have been hard going back to a five day week this week, but I had a librarian's meeting on Wednesday. Yay! And a meeting in the library on Thursday! Yay! But I had after school meetings on let's see--Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. And tonight is Advent By Candlelight. A busy week, indeed.
7. And tomorrow is the Magnificat prayer breakfast. I agreed to hostess a table and pray afterwards. Fortunately, all I have to do for that is pray at the table and be gracious to the women who sit at my table. No decorating or centerpieces or party favors, somebody else does all of that.

Some of the kids were sad to see it go, but I was happy, happy, happy.
We got a lot of books for all that work.5. My very favorite go-to recipe this time of year is chicken breast (or cut up chicken) cooked in Italian salad dressing.
