And today I am 60. It sounds so OLD! I had a student last year in book club who was complaining about someone. When she finished all the criticism she proclaimed--And I bet she is 60 and I don't talk to people that old. I am glad she was an eighth grader, because I won't have to suffer her not talking to me this year.
I was born on a Friday the 13th sometime after midnight. Somehow, I was born in Iowa (where the hospital was) and have spent less than 10 nights in that state my whole life and I think that would be including the 5 days in the hospital when I was born. I grew up in Illinois. I think of myself as an Illinois girl, although I have lived more than 24 years in Missouri now, just 2 less than I lived in Illinois.
I was trying to think of words of wisdom to share with all you young folks. I doubt if I have any. I have lived to please other people my whole life and I am trying to learn to be a grown up and not to have to get permission from other people to be the person God created me to be. So, while I am not ascribing to total licentiousness, I am saying live. Live! Dance with Jesus! Live and breathe deeply and believe that you are loved. If you need permission, you have mine.
I want to go to the Holy Land in my 60th year. It is the only thing I want. If I don't get there this year, then I will the next, because that is my goal. I want to walk where Jesus walked. I am called to go there.
Happy Birthday to me! (And thanks in advance for any kind wishes. I thought about turning off the comments, but decided, oh well, I am only turning 60 once.)
And maybe this post which was my 500th post sums me up best even though today I have over 2500 posts.
